One of the trickiest steps in personal growth is naming and working on our limiting beliefs. It's an important part, because the unconscious will often hold you back more than the conscious. But how do you hack into those well-travelled paths of the mind to see what's really going on?
Tony Robbins has an incredibly effective exercise that he runs at his Unleash the Power Within events, which gets you to look at the effect any particular belief is having on you and your loved ones. The idea is powerful because you think about what this will look like both now, in the past and in the future. It's also important that you really feel the consequence of holding onto each believe. Just thinking it isn't as strong as wiring it deeper with feeling.
I've done this exercise many times and find it to be incredibly helpful as a series of steps to get specific about how you're going to move forward. I cannot recommend it enough as an annual review coupled with your vision board and other "strategic planning" activities.
So how does it work?
