Morning person, night owl or other? I'm more proactive in the morning, and I prefer to work out in the morning so I'll say a morning person, but then it's still hard to get out of bed.
Do you do anything before bed to make your morning routine easier? I always pick out my outfit the night before to make things easier: usually a workout outfit close to my bed, placed in the order that I dress myself so I don't have to search in the dark. And I'll pack my bag with my work clothes. I usually pack my lunch and make myself a protein smoothie to have for breakfast so I know my food is sorted for the day
What's your first thought when the alarm goes off? "Why is my alarm going off? Oh yeah..." I'm usually in such a dream state that I have no idea what day it is. Each day is very different for me with my location and job role so it usually takes me a while to click and remember where I'm going that day.
What does the first hour of your day look like? A stumbling out of bed, I also keep my phone in the other room so I have to get up to turn it off. First thing I do is turn on our kettle, If I'm not working out I have a shower in the morning to wake myself up and I always have a hot water and lemon drink. Then make myself a breakfast of usually eggs on toast or a smoothie, something high protein. I like to give myself time in the morning to have a decent breakfast, and then I'll bus or drive
Morning beverage of choice? When did you make the jump and what have you noticed? Hot water and lemon! It is the best! I can't remember when I first started doing this as I've been doing it for YEARS! I wake up and crave it, and my day never feels right/I can tell if I can't have it in the morning. I am a big fan of hot water, but in the morning I add lemon as it helps me, my taste buds, and my digestive system wake up and be ready for the day. Even if I have to rush out the door I will take it with me. It really makes a huge difference and sets my gut up for success. I'm a big believer in not caffeinating before eating so that my blood sugar levels and adrenals can function the best possible. Sometimes I'll have a green tea later on in the day but no more coffee for me. I stopped having coffee about 4 years ago and haven't touched it since and my adrenals/hormones are so much happier for the change
What's the part that's most likely to get chopped when you're short on time? The workout. I don't like rushing out the door and I'd prefer to nurture my body with food than to miss one class - there will always be another class or workout I can do at another part of the day
What other habits are part of your routine (at other points in the day/weekend)? I like to meditate if I'm not waking up early for a class. I'll do it instead of a workout if I can and if I'm organised. Each time I meditate it sets up my perspective for the day beautifully.
